Customized workshops
We offer customized, interactive workshops on change leadership, better communications, designing generative conversations, rapid strategy development and foundational leadership principles. Below are three of our most commonly requested workshops — all of which can be virtual or onsite. Reach out to discuss your needs!
Many Boats, One Light: Leading sustainable, inclusive change in complex systems
In the dynamic worlds of higher education, healthcare delivery and health sciences, we are constantly adapting to new knowledge, ideas, changing environments and emerging needs. In these complex environments, how do we influence or lead intentional change that has the impact we hope for?
In this workshop, we explore an approach to leading inclusive, sustainable change that is uniquely suited for the needs of health and learning systems. “Many Boats, One Light” builds understanding of how to engage others toward a shared north star while setting people up to creatively move forward from their unique perspectives.
Dragon Boats and Border Collies: What is your natural leadership style?
Dragon Boat Captain, Border Collie, Gardener, Jazz Player, Pilot, Disrupter — what do these images have to do with leadership?
One of the foundational qualities for great leaders is self-awareness — about your style, about your impact on others, and the ability to adapt for different contexts.
In this workshop, we take a playful approach expanding your leadership repertoire, using eight metaphors to explore your natural tendency, its impact and where you might add new dimensions. This exploration is meaningful for new, emerging and seasoned leaders who are looking to deepen their understanding.
“I don’t know what to say”: Navigating challenging conversations
“Debates” that shut down dialogue, polarizing politics, unprofessional colleagues or direct reports, challenging conversations, sharing news that might upset people — every leader we work with spends an incredible amount of time, energy and emotional labour navigating challenging conversations of all kinds.
In this hands-on workshop, we will explore four important resources that will give you “first aid” for more comfort with challenging conversations. Learn to identify the areas you are most likely to be reactive or to make assumptions, how to listen in a way that allows you to truly hear divergent perspectives, how to ask and inquire before you jump in to make your point, and more. Participants will leave with greater comfort with stepping into difficult conversations and greater ease with “not having all the answers.”
